Since our Lead Consultant, Captain Jerry Burgoyne, first came ashore in 1996, he has experienced many roles within the Shipping Community, ranging from Superintendent, through more operational roles, to productively running multimillion dollar budgets, both as Manager and Project Lead. This experience led to his involvement with incident investigations, both personal, and those of a more technical nature, in the Shipping, Fishing and STS industries.
Over the last couple of decades, he has focused on the Ship-to-Ship Transfer world, both as a Manager and a Senior STS Person in Overall Advisory Control (Mooring Master.) As such, he has effectively conducted hundreds of STS operations, both oil and gas, including LNG. He has also been a significant part of the Teams setting up several nationally important and successful STS based import and export projects, again, both oil and gas, including LNG.
On a more operational HR front, he steered the Team that created an MCA Approved and Industry recognised STS POAC Training system, along with an accompanying STS POAC Assessment process for serving Mooring Masters. A related process for the selection of trainee Mooring Masters was also created; this process has a near 100% success rate.
With the recent Shipping Industry focus on the Human Element, he undertook further training to become Certified in Behavioural Competency Assessment. Using this additional knowledge, a BCA based system for assessing operational POACs was developed; this was then trialled successfully.Highlights
